Michael studied in Birmingham and Leeds and then worked in the music industry throughout the nineties before returning to full time painting.
His move to Cornwall triggered a fascination in the ocean. "I could not ignore it, so I decided I had to learn how to paint it.. my style is still evolving, but the paintings... they are all about the light...."
Michael's seascapes, originally detailed, visually capture in oils the varying moods of the ocean and are painstakingly created. Over time his work has become more loose and evocative of the scenes he calls up from memory. It is very much all about the light and often a long time in finishing - one piece just sold was twelve years as a "work in progress".
Internationally renowned, his work is part of private collections from San Diego to Europe.
