Adrian Holmes is a woodblock printmaker devoted to Japanese printmaking. He fell in love with this medium whilst living in Japan and began to study this beautiful craft and its various techniques. His work is shaped by his close link with nature and environment, both being integral to his work. Adrian makes contemporary woodblock prints with a focus on traditional methods.
“I’m fascinated by woodblock printing, its versatility, openness and process. It’s a medium which has so many possibilities. I find the subtlety of woodblock printing fascinating and I try to incorporate this into my artwork. I continue to explore this medium, balancing the beautiful subtleties of this Japanese medium using a traditional approach with a contemporary style, focusing on semi abstract themes of landscapes and place.”
